To Mormons: Has anyone ever tried to create a replica of the World's most important discovery ?
-
I found this question elsewhere in Yahoo Answer's.I thought it was interesting so I re posted here with some edits in the details. Way back in the early 1800's in upstate New York, a young farm boy with minimal education was told by "God" and "Jesus" where to find some golden plates with "Reformed Egyptian" writing on them. The writing was to be translated from "Reformed Egyptian" into 16th century King James style English to make it consistent with the most recognized religious book of that time and would be called "The Book of Mormon". The purpose of the translation would be to re-establish Gods one and only 100% true Christian Church on Planet Earth, "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". The first church established by Jesus Christ and the 12 Apostles had become corrupt and their creeds were an "Abomination" in Gods sight and the time has now come to re-establish Christ's true church on Planet Earth. That's why God had the "Book of Mormon" preserved on golden plates so that future generations would have undeniable evidence that "His one true church" has been re-established in these last days here on Planet Earth. One little problem. After having Joseph Smith "Translate" the Golden Plates into the Book of Mormon, God decided to take the original plates up to Heaven to prevent them from getting lost or damaged. Now we no longer have the original artifact to display to the world so that they may know the church is true. So, what I want to know is if anyone has ever tried to make an exact replica of what is obviously the most important archaeological discovery in the history of Humanity ? A Mormon friend of mine has a small replica made of wood, but it includes no writing on the plates. I just thought that with a discovery this huge, a real LDS Archaeologist would try to make an exact replica complete with the Egyptian writing on them just to show the world that it was really possible to do such a thing. After all, it can't be all that difficult since the original was done over 1500 years ago in the Pre-Columbian new world .With the Church's vast financial resources that it has used to build Temples and shopping malls and office buildings, It should be easy for us to re-create now, right ? Then we can put it in a Museum for the world to see.

Answer:
The bible has survived thousands of years. Some dead Sea scrolls were hidden for 2000 years and were written before BC.LDS "plates" and documents are as easy to verify as the unbiblical doctrine they "hold" to.
