What Are Some 2012 Proxies?

12/21/2012 what -_- ?

  • I want to know why everyone believes the world is going to end this stuff scares me yes i am one of those people who are scared but i have my fears just like everybody else....i read stuff on NASA Q: What is the origin of the prediction that the world will end in 2012? A: The story started with claims that Nibiru, a supposed planet discovered by the Sumerians, is headed toward Earth. This catastrophe was initially predicted for May 2003, but when nothing happened the doomsday date was moved forward to December 2012. Then these two fables were linked to the end of one of the cycles in the ancient Mayan calendar at the winter solstice in 2012 -- hence the predicted doomsday date of December 21, 2012. Q: Does the Mayan calendar end in December 2012? A: Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012. This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins again on January 1 -- another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar. Q: Could phenomena occur where planets align in a way that impacts Earth? A: There are no planetary alignments in the next few decades, Earth will not cross the galactic plane in 2012, and even if these alignments were to occur, their effects on the Earth would be negligible. Each December the Earth and sun align with the approximate center of the Milky Way Galaxy but that is an annual event of no consequence. Q: What is the polar shift theory? Is it true that the earth’s crust does a 180-degree rotation around the core in a matter of days if not hours? A: A reversal in the rotation of Earth is impossible. There are slow movements of the continents (for example Antarctica was near the equator hundreds of millions of years ago), but that is irrelevant to claims of reversal of the rotational poles. However, many of the disaster websites pull a bait-and-switch to fool people. They claim a relationship between the rotation and the magnetic polarity of Earth, which does change irregularly, with a magnetic reversal taking place every 400,000 years on average. As far as we know, such a magnetic reversal doesn’t cause any harm to life on Earth. A magnetic reversal is very unlikely to happen in the next few millennia, anyway. Q: Is there a danger from giant solar storms predicted for 2012? A: Solar activity has a regular cycle, with peaks approximately every 11 years. Near these activity peaks, solar flares can cause some interruption of satellite communications, although engineers are learning how to build electronics that are protected against most solar storms. But there is no special risk associated with 2012. The next solar maximum will occur in the 2012-2014 time frame and is predicted to be an average solar cycle, no different than previous cycles throughout history. and also i asked about the earth shifting its called Geomagnetic Reversal 2 answers i got It is when the poles reverse themself - magnetic north becomes magnetic south. This has happened several times in history. No, it is not expected to happen in 2012, nor is there a likelihood that it will happen in our lifetime. If it were to, it would not kill people. It would confuse many animals who use the earths magnetism as directional finders and it would through off electronics, but it would not kill people or animals. "Reversals happen on average only about once every 250,000 years, and they take hundreds if not thousands of years to complete. Even the weakening (of the magnetic field) currently under way may be a false alarm. The field often gets very weak, then bounces back, never having flipped. As Ron Merrill, a magnetic-field specialist at the University of Washington remarked when asked whether we're in for a reversal: "Ask me in 10,000 years, I'll give you a better answer." So hang on to your compass. For the foreseeable future, it should work as advertised."—Peter Tyson, NOVA It's not expected to happen for a long time. Clearly, not on December 21, 2012. When geomagnetic reversal happens, it takes a long time to switch. The geomagnetic field has reversed a number of times in the geological past. If the geomagnetic field gets too low (as it would during a reversal) then the protection we get from the geomagnetic field would diminish for a while. Definitely not this year. The magnetic field strength is only diminishing slowly. Im still scared... i want your guys opinion & please dont be to negative with me

21 December 2012 Solstice, just like every other year. An entire generation of kids will realise that not everything they see on the History Channel or pretty sites on the internet is true and will start claiming they never believed any of it anyway. Yeah, right. Who posted 100,000 questions about it on Y! A then? Hundreds of faked internet sites will close down, books will be sent to the recyclers and the prophets will be counting their profits and heading out of town till things cool down. A few months later they will have another hoax end of the world / "significant change" set of lies to tell for maybe 2018 and the whole mess of childish hysteria will start again. Adults will mostly ignore the whole thing as they have done since it started with a fraud on a fraud in 2003 since one of the things about actually growing up is that you can usually tell the difference between delusion or obvious lies and reality. The purpose is to sell you faked up books, videos and have you watch junk TV shows for the ratings on the History or Discovery channels, and if you are really stupid, sell you end of the world supplies and shelters. If you are really, really stupid you might get into some doomsday cult where the leaders can have all your money and maybe get you to suicide before 21 December 2012 so you can't do anything about it. http://www.2012hoax.org

What is the point of wasting all this typing on a recap of the evidence to prove you shouldn't be scared. What you really need to be worried about is the presidential candidates pandering to the Christian creationists that are destroying education and all the people who to believe the stuff you decry and think the thing to do is kill themselves before 12/21/12, perhaps taking you with them.

Michelle is making me a "sandwich" ! (and be sure to Vote for me in November) Don't worry about all that Mayan Crap ! ...worry about me !...
