How is geology related to forestry?

Are geology and astronomy related at all?

  • I'm very interested in both and I'm taking Geology in my 2nd semester in college, so will there some astronomy in geology??

  • Answer:

They are definitely related, but as far as an intro course goes, that depends on the particular curriculum at your school. You might touch upon astronomy in a basic geology class. More than likely you will focus on the 3 different rock types, minerals, earthquakes, volcanoes, possibly glaciers, how landscapes change over time, etc. I used to TA for an intro geology lab and for an astronomy course, (two separate classes). The most humorous thing I ever overheard was a girl talking to another student about how she wished she had taken astronomy instead of geology, because all the math in the geology class was killing her. LOL, astronomy is nothing but math. If you're interested in it, I would go talk to the professor that is teaching it. They may be able to throw in more of a particular topic if they know someone is interested and they have extra time. Or they could recommend a different course for you. Remember they are there to help you and they like it when students show interest! Good luck!
