    A meteor hit would be the largest natrual disaster, however, the Yellowstone Volcano would be the largest earth-based disaster. According to Wikipedia, Mount St. Helens volcano was 27,000 Hiroshima bombs (appox. 350 megatons). Yellowstone Volcano has a potential of 2500 times that of Mount St. Helens! (67.5 million Hiroshima bombs or 8.75 million megatons! Good luck!

Likewise, a major volcano eruption will be spread over a longer period of time than a telluric event, so again, it is power for a period of time that equals energy.
