I live in Broken Arrow and I felt an earthquake at 2:15 am!??!?

I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED AN EARTHQUAKE BEFORE. DID ANYONE FEEL THAT? IM IN BROKEN ARROW. IM SO SCARED. IM SO PARANOID.

Answer:
There is _nothing_ to be paranoid about. Thousands of earthquakes happen every week somewhere in the world. No one is out to get _you_. See this web page for a list of all earthquakes in the Oklahoma region. There have been several, and it is possible that you did feel one. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Maps/US10/32.42.-100.-90.php Below the map is a link to a list of events shown on the map, where you can read exactly where it occurred. There is also a link to tell the USGS that you felt it. I encourage you to report what you felt. The USGS uses information from regular people to evaluate the perceived effects of earthquakes. There are already multiple reports from people about recent OK earthquakes.

I'm in Holdenville and felt it as well. KOCO 5 has info about both that happened. The first was at 2:12 am and was 4.7 but epicenter isn't pinpointed yet. Don't worry otherwise.

Yes!!! we felt it also. We have these metal decorative wall hangngs above our bed and they started rattling so much last night that they woke us up. I initially thought someone was banging on the wall outside our house. My husband turned on the outside lights and no one was there. It lasted for a few seconds (maybe 30)?? I figured it had to be an earthquake tremor - there was no other logical answer. So yes, we felt it as well. Don't be scared or paranoid - tremors happen all the time but most of them we cannot feel.

I live in Broken Arrow also and felt it. That is how I found this question. Searched Broken Arrow Earthquake and this popped up. It was pretty neat, my first time experiencing one. Didn't last long, 15 seconds, the bed started shaking like someone was trying to wake me up and I heard the house moving. Very cool.

I live in Broken Arrow and also felt the earthquake. It was the weirdest thing ever. I felt like someone was shaking me to wake me up, but nobody was there. Everyone else in my house felt it too.

We live in Oklahoma. We don't have earthquakes. Our buildings can't hold up to this stuff. Btw another one just happened.

Calm down. Go to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network at www.pnsn.org. It has listings of all earthquakes around the world with maps too. Look up "US earthquakes" and your area and find out what the magnitude was and the epicenter. From the looks of it, there was a 3.4 magnitude quake at 2:27am, 45 miles east of Oklahoma City, OK. The depth was shallow so I'm not surprised you felt it. Just breathe. Turn on the radio or TV. But calm down. You might have aftershocks...they'll be smaller than the 3.4 and I doubt you'll feel them. I live in Washington state and we have tons of earthquakes every day....we just don't feel most of them. But I've been through a few. The worst ones were in San Francisco. During the night I had one throw me out of bed. Literally. Just keep calm, drink some water. Sit down. Listen to media. It's gonna be fine.
