How is geology related to bridges?
-
what are the things to be consider before constructibg bridges in terms of geology
-
Answer:
I imagine the type of land where the bridge would be built would influence the engineer's choice of a design. ( Can the soil support the stress of the bridge or do you need to disperse the load over a wider area with cables and such?) Also, knowing the geology of the land where it would be built would help identify if it's prone to earthquakes (fault lines) and avalanches. not an engineer or a geologist, btw.

since geology is the study of the earth's continual formation (and reformation), and a bridge is a way of defying said formation, I would say lots of things. Earthquake? Soft rock? Erosion?
