What are 2 plants from Zanzibar?

What are 2 ways in which acid rain can harm plants and aniamals in lakes and streams?

  • for a science report

  • Answer:

I can only think of one. Acid rain decreases the pH level of water after seeping into the ground. A decreased pH basically increases the acidity of water, making it lethal. Plants absorb it from the soil, herbivores eat the plant, and carnivores eat the herbivore. Also, animals dink from those streams and lakes that acid rain falls into. Beyond that I cant think of anything. Maybe acid rain harming animals when it lands on them(skin)?

Other answers

Lakes and streams become acidic (pH value goes down) when the water itself and its surrounding soil cannot buffer the acid rain enough to neutralize it. In areas where buffering capacity is low, acid rain also releases aluminum from soils into lakes and streams; aluminum is highly toxic to many species of aquatic organisms.
