What is some evidence of continental drift?

What are three pieces of evidence that support continental drift?

  • Answer:

Take your pick. Fit of continents---some continents, Africa and S. America most obviously, seem to have fit together like puzzle pieces. Fossils----Fossils of some animals are found on different continents separated by thousands of miles and an entire ocean. There is no physical way the animal could have gotten there on its own. Matching mountain belts---Mountain belts on different continents are of the same composition, same age, and same tectonic forces created them. Magnetic striping---The magnetic strips on the ocean floor, originating from the mid-ocean ridges. These strips record the latitude of the crustal material and direction the poles are located. This information can be used to trace the crust's origin. This indicates the crust has moved since it was formed. I figured 4 was enough, you can look up others if you want.

um..continents fit like a puzzle..not exactly...but somewhat. And there are earthquakes/caused by tectonic plates crashing into one another. Oh, and also animal fossils. For example, some animals like animals that live in warm conditions/habitats are found in colder places today. So the habitats changed/or climate.
