Is it possible that a civilisation like ours has already existed?

  • Could there have been a dramatic change on this earth that wiped out a previous civilisation and left no trace of it behind? How could this theory be proved or disproved? Sorry for the re-post but I didn't receive sufficient answers last time.

  • Answer:

This is a fascinating subject, the answer is yes. Traces would remain and would need to be identified. There have been so many publications on Pre Ice Age civilisations and the hidden history of Mankind that I do not know where it would be best for you to begin. Graham Hancock the British author may be a good place to start, his site, in which the author aims to document evidences for lost civilisations is www.grahamhancock.com I wish you all the very best of luck maybe one day you will be able to show us all evidence of lost Pre Ice Age civilisations. I hope so.

The Earth has been rotating for over a million years. The first human to set foot on Earth actually crawled out of the water at first and then slowly mutation process began and we adapted and become more civilized as human begins than creatures. The Bible is okay, but we were here long before the Bible was written. There was a big meteor that struck the earth and put a big black hole in it. This...keep in mind is theory that it nearly wiped up all the race including the Dinosaur, but we (Humans) survived the blast. We then grew more civilized and began to build coming into thee 18th Century. It was not that long ago that things began to rapidly be transformed. It's like a puzzle. The more Pieces you put together the faster you will finish it and life was generally in the same fashion as people began to put the Pieces together we discovered more and more and the initial basics was founded and thee rest accelerated quickly into the 19th Century and then into the 20th Century. It is my guess that this acceleration will explode the Earth once more and it will start all over again like a Nuclear Fusion and the only difference instead of nature doing it naturally Man will do it manually by the press of a button and recreate the Trigatron explosion of one trillion years ago.

If you can accept that life as we know it is predisposed to come into being , then the answer is, yes, on Earth ! An endless cycle of contractions and big bangs, destroying and rebuilding Earth , over and over for ever.

. If there were civilisations before us, archaeologists would be finding their equivalent of plastic TESCO shopping bags everywhere, just like we find them on our streets, beaches and parks now, ready to be re-discovered millions of years from now. How captivated and impressed they will be by this sort of technology - indestructible rubbish. 'Amazing', they will declare! .

I think that a cilisation like ours is unlikely to have been before us. There is no fossil evidence. If our civilisation was destroyed tomorrow, we would leave a huge fossil evidence. Rocks are formed mainly at sea. In millions of years to come there will still be the huge rock deposits that are found from rock debis underneath oil rigs. Most cities will eventually be eroded. Not those, like Venice, that are slowly sinking into the sea. The old harbour of Cairo is another example. The sea rise due to global warming will put more cities underwater. While it is possible that civilisations did exist in the past, I doubt that they were as extinnsive as that today. Further afield? I'd be amazed if we were the only one.

Isaac Asimov (1920-1992) wrote science fiction and fact. For years, he wrote a monthly article of ten pages or so in "Fantasy & Science Fiction" magazine. One concerned the Pre-Cambrian Discontinuity. He noted that some titanic forces went over Earth's surface as if with sandpaper and destroyed all evidence of things that existed earlier. What was the cause of such a thing? He suggests that the Moon may have been much closer and caused gigantic tides that emptied the oceans to splash across the continents. If an advanced civilization had existed, it and all traces of it would have been destroyed totally. He says the reader is free to use this idea in fantasy stories.

The evidence can be found under the left paw of the sphinx

I doubt it, fossils are found from all parts of history. If fossils have survived, then why not some form of technology?
