Where did the water of noahs flood come from?
-
The earth has 1,097,509,500,000k3 of mass. It would take 4,525,000,000,000k3 of water to cover the whole earth with water-that is 4 times the entire volume of the earth-where did the water come from? Correct me if my numbers are way off.

Answer:
As far as I know, the whole story is an allegory (possibly representing baptism?). It seems deliberately written this way. For example, after the flood, Noah sends out a dove to find evidence that it was safe to leave the ark. Eventually the bird brings back evidence but after weeks of waiting. This could be a message that means one should wait for the “flood” (or whatever trial you are personally facing) to pass…to be patient, and keep trying. To take it literally, you have a bird who brings back plant-life that could not possibly have germinated after a world-wide flood (assuming you could get everything to work up to that point, which scientifically speaking you can’t…not having enough water is problem #100 of a huge list of problems). When taking an allegorical passage and cramming into a literal interpretation, you’re going to miss the beauty of it.

The numbers are unimportant: It did not happen - there is no geological evidence for the 'whole world' being flooded. What there is is some evidence for major flooding events in the area of the Euphtrates River at about 5600 BC, when the barrier between the low-lying area which is now the Black Sea broke through the Bosphorous, and the waters of the mediterranean poured into the valley where early agriculturalists had settled, flooding it. If true, it is likely this story was passed down through generations and eventually incorporated into the biblicalNoachian legend.

The record in the book of Genesis says that after Noah builds the ark, "all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened" by God. It rains for 40 days. "The water prevailed upon the earth one hundred and fifty days." The water recedes for 150 days. On the seventeenth day of the seventh month, the ark rests upon the mountains of Ararat. After 40 days on the mountain, Noah opens up the ark. "Then God spoke to Noah, saying, 'Go out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and your sons' wives with you.'" Everyone and every animal exits the ark to fruitfully repopulate the Earth. Not sure if all that is possible or not, but that's the story. I imagine it rained really hard for all those days. I'll let you try to figure out how hard it would have to rain to flood the earth. Remember, part of the earth was already covered by seas before the flood. Not sure how much of it. If you believe the Bible as an historical record of the times, that is what happened. Let's not even say God did it. Let's just say, it rained, hard, for a long time. I gave you a star since this is an interesting question. Better than most I come across on here.

no your numbers aren't off its just that god doesn't need math to do what he does he flooded the world because people were evil he probably took the water from all over and then just added to it he makes amazing things happen that no one can understand

based on that logic the rain obviously came from someones imagination.
