Domain function help?

Step Function Graph: DOMAIN help (pics included)?

I'm not quite sure here, but what i know is that the graph of a step function should be "stairs-like" but these are quite different. Please help? Thanks in advance.

    Question 1: (-1, 3) Question 2: (-2, 2) The method of stating the domain and range is quite different from what I normally have learned. Maybe this is a better way for your class: Question 1: (-1, -1, 3, 3) Question 2: (-2, -2, 2, 2) I'm not really sure what you want here, because these functions are really wierd! (oh and by the way, how do u get those photobucket things? they're really good those things!)

Sorry, but NEITHER is a function, by the vertical line test. Your teaches is a bit of a loon ...

These are ill-defined functions. Remember: give any value of the argument in the domain, there is only one value of the function in the range. Hence, none of these two curves may be claimed to be function. Also, for a Step-function, there can not be any vertical lines included in the function (such at at -1 and +3 in the first graph, and at -2 and 2 in the second graph).
