Mercury is about 4879 km, or 3033 miles, at its diameter (less than half the earth's diameter). Mercury has about 6% of earths mass. A person weighing 100 lbs on earth would weigh 38 lbs on Mercury. It is much like the moon in appearance, and during the day, it can get as hot as 800 degrees F (hot enough to melt lead) but as cold as -298 degrees at night (Nitrogen is liquid at this temperature). This is because Mercury has no real atmosphere to transfer heat like Earth. Mercury has a very short year (88 days) but a long day (59 days).
