Are there any space vehicles in which it would be possible to launch yourself into space on your own?

Has anyone ever been to a launch at the Kennedy Space Center? ?

  • I was planning on getting tickets for to the Kennedy Space Center for mine and my boyfriend's anniversary which is on Valentine's Day. Well...they are actually scheduled to launch the Discovery on Feb. 12th! So I thought that would be awesome for him to actually get to see a launch! But....I'm wondering what to expect?? Will the center be so crowded that we won't even be able to enjoy ourselves or even get a chance to really look at everything!? I know that we won't be able to tour the launch site. Are there more things that we won't be able to get access to? Should I just plan on going a different day? We will about 3 hours away from the center so we were just going to drive down for the launch and then back home. Any information you have would be great!! Thanks!!
