What is the date of Holi in 1977?

Holi in 1943. What date?

  • I want to know what day and date did the Indian festival of Holi fall on in 1943. It falls on a full moon day; so, it can be calculated as per a lunar calendar. Holi (Hindi: होली) or Phagwah (Bhojpuri), is an annual and popular Hindu spring festival. It takes place over two days in the latter part of March or early April, but I am not sure about it in 1943. As per the Hindu calendar, it falls on the Phalgun Purnima (or Pooranmashi, Full Moon). On the first day, a bonfire is lit at night to signify burning Holika. On the second day, known as Dhulandi, people go around until afternoon throwing coloured powder and water at each other, although the powder stings the eyes. Please calculate the day of Holi (the full moon day) and show your calculations too if you can. As per my calculations, the full moon days in February, March and April 1943 fall on or around the following dates: 19-Feb-1943-Friday 21-Mar-1943-Sunday 19-Apr-1943-Monday

  • Answer:

    19 Feb 43 21 Mar 43 20 Apr 43
