How many stars are in the sky?

  • There is certainly no explanation for how many stars there are in our sky

  • Answer:

Hi Star, and welcome to Yahoo Answers. Sorry to say, but you're question puts me in mind of the infamous “You can't explain that!” gaffe by Fox News TV host Bill O'Reilly, which spawned an internet meme mocking his ignorant buffoonery; see, eg: • Bill O'Reilly You Can't Explain That » illustrated article – http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/bill-oreilly-you-cant-explain-that CAUTION: Just because you don't have an explanation for a natural phenomenon, or don't know that such an explanation exists, does not make your stating that “There is certainly no explanation for” said natural phenomenon actually true – rather it only advertises your own ignorance. if you mean naked eye visible, about 6000 under perfectly clear very dark skies. If you mean in our galaxy, over 200 billion. About 5 billion other galaxies are known

The limit of visibility for a star is about magnitude +6.0 under perfect viewing conditions. That includes about 6,000 stars. So on any given night you can see about 3,000 of them. However, the collective light of billions of stars are seen in the Milky Way, even though the stars themselves are too dim and far away to be seen individually.

And the humans on this planet (2/3 of humans) seriously believe that, no other living creatures could possibly populate other planets in the vastness of the universe. To put a number to the estimated number of stars in the universe, try 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, or 100 sextillion, it's possible that this estimate could be tripled. Once upon a time people believed that Earth was flat! There is a future, where humans will be intelligent enough to be able to join with the other inhabitants of this universe.

Can you seriously count the number of atoms/molecules, then further electrons, neutrons, protons of which our earth & earth's atmosphere (including all objects, living entities on earth) is made up of ? That'd be the nearest probable answer for number of stars across the cosmos !

Infinity, You see stars are suns, like our sun in the solar system, except they are way past Pluto (Dwarf Planet). There is no possible way to know exaclty how many because, well humans can't travel that far with our modern tecnology, and there are just to many to count, even with a telescope.

"There is certainly no explanation for how many stars there are in our sky." Do you mean the number of visible stars from the Earth, or the total number of stars in the Universe and their average density? There are explanations for both.
