Why do people doubt the moon landing?

Some people have accomplished so little in their own lives that they cannot believe others have accomplished greatness. Others cannot believe that we had sophisticated technology back in 1969. The six Apollo Moon landings are among the best documented events in human history: thousands of pictures, hours of video, nearly half a ton of Moon rocks, and millions of eye witnesses, including myself. There is not a single scientist in the world who doubts that they took place. To deny them is to discredit the magnificent achievement of the team which went to the Moon, and to reveal abysmal scientific ignorance. *sigh* Paxman - the flag wasn't 'blowing in the wind': 'The astronauts were moving the flag into position. Without air drag, these movements caused the free corner of the flag to swing like a pendulum for some time. A horizontal rod, visible in many photographs, extended from the top of the flagpole to hold the flag out for proper display. The flag's rippled appearance was from folding during storage, and it could be mistaken for motion in a still photograph. The top support rod telescoped and the crew of Apollo 11 could not fully extend it. Later crews preferred to only partially extend the rod. Videotapes shows that when the flag stops after the astronauts let it go, it remains motionless. At one point the flag remains completely motionless for well over thirty minutes.'

There is a concerted effort by a group of people to discredit science. For them any questioning of science and/or government is OK because it undermines peoples confidence in the present world paradigm..That paradigm is that the world is knowable through the human intellect by application of the methods of science. This group of people will attack any scientific proposition independent of its implications in an effort to cause people to ultimately reject science. This is why they also attack Global Warming - even though to do so will cause massive human suffering in the future. The object is to discredit science/authority (such as the government) - period. In order to accomplish their goal they have to throw out reason. and reasoned inquiry. But that is OK with them. They don't deal with reason...

We live in a world full of disrespect, little or no trust, envy, ignorance, arrogance, and many misconceptions.

When something happens before your personal autobiographical memory begins, it takes time to believe that history that happened before you were born or remember happening really happened and is true. I know it took at least year before I really believed that man had not landed on the moon yet after being told in 1955, 1956, 1957 and maybe in 1958 before I actually believed that might actually be true. Grown-ups could do everything, so why hadn't they landed on the moon yet? was my 4year old reasoning in 1957.. I don't think I really believed it was true that man had not landed on the moon yet, until Sputnik 1 was launched and I watched my mother's reaction to the announcement on the NBC News on WDSU Channel 6 in New Orleans.

I think a lot of it is because we've been lied to by our government before.

Namely, the fact that the flag is blowing in the wind when there is no wind on the moon.

1. They are really stupid (this includes those who believe the nonsense of the frauds, it would be really easy to find the truth by using ANY WWW-search)) 2. They just hate the US government and can't stand the thought that it achieved something that important 3. They don't understand the subject but don't want to admit it, they rather declare everything to be fake 4. The just feel smarter in their "knowledge" of the fake This excludes all frauds (Sibrel & Co) who have videos or books to sell , and the stupid trolls - they know their claim is a bunch of lies, but promote it anyway.
