In one minute of time how far does the earth rotate in minutes or seconds of longitude. How do i find this out?
-
Answer:
The Earth rotates 360 degrees every 86164 seconds (slightly less than one day). So, it takes 86164 / 360 = 239.34 seconds to rotate 1 degree. That is just under 4 minutes (240 seconds). So every almost 4 minutes, the Earth rotates by one degree of longitude.
