How old do speed and short skaters start?

Would Earth's speed of rotation start to decrease as years progresses?

  • I mean, every moving object tends to decrease its velocity unless its subjected to external influence For example, a stone thrown from someone would start to slow down its speed as it travels for a longer time unless its continuously made to travel at the same speed due to external influence So would Earth's speed of rotations start to decrease. If is doesnt what keeps in in constant motion?

  • Answer:

According to Newton's First Law of Motion, i.e. every body is in rest or in uniform motion will changes its state only if external force is applied. hence the Earth is in uniform speed of rotation will changes its speed unless an external heavenly body hit on it with force and mass which will changes the rotational speed or revolutional speed o the Earth. As per our Indian Panchanga [Hindu calendar] which is more than five thousand years old, the Earth's revolution around the Sun or rotation is not changed. According our Earth's revolution and rotation, they predict the eclipses, Sun rise and set with accurate time at difference places in India.

If the earth was standing still it would take a great deal of energy to cause it to spin at the rate of one rotation per day. To cause the present earth to slow its spin would require some of the same rotational energy to be removed. However, the earth encounters no wind resistance as it spins because the atmosphere spins with the earth. The moon does drag the oceans around the globe causing tides each day and this does remove some energy from the earth's spin causing the earth to spin slower each century, but the effect is still very very small. Most moving objects on earth slow down because of friction including air resistance. The earth orbits the sun in a near perfect vacuum with no friction.

Firstly, you got some wrong ideas about the laws of motion. An object in motion will remain in motion, unless acted upon by a force. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton%27s_laws_of_motion The Earth's rotation is slowing down, but this is due to tidal interaction with the Moon. The Moon's gravity pulls on our oceans, and while the Earth rotates under the Moon, this creates a drag that slows the Earth down. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tidal_acceleration

yes.as we know the universe expands and not a high amount of energy is being transfered.so the only way to keep things in balance is to be more distant and a little bit slower.so all planets start to reduce speed...

also with mass increase over many many years the geodetic warp will increase in-turn will effect the earths spin ever so slightly with a increase of speed
