Why does the sun rotate the earth?

Since it is no longer the 1500's I would imagine no teacher would believe the sun revolves around the Earth, so you must have misunderstood. What I think your teacher is trying to say is that the Earth revolves around the sun (once every 365 days), and that it rotates on its axis (once every 24 hours).

I am not sure what you are asking. The planets revolve around the sun. As they revolve, they also rotate, which is what brings days and nights.

The sun makes planets rotate and revolve around it in order for each planet to get light. So because of the earth rotating on its axis we have days and nights. We don't really know why this happens but its in our favor because we get light. If the sun did not exist there would not be any planets. Thats why
