Movies: which directors would you think could do a good job with these subjects?

  it's really hard to tell, because the subject doesn't matter much, it's the means and cinematic eye that differ from director to director, and I don't know which way you wanna go with it: drug addiction can be examined Requiem for a Dream style and it can be Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels or even Traffic-style, but I'll try anyways :) drug addiction - Christopher Nolan, he deals with people with different kinds of disorders and paranoia just fine, Doodlebug, Memento serial killer - Steven Soderbergh, but only his early, Sex, Lies and Videotape-style, he died in the late 90s for me, David Cronenberg, I know you said only one :), can't help it - he can get into the darkest corners of human psyche and bring primal fear, lowest desire & craze out like no one else - Crash Urban gangs - Lars Von Trier - he gets so deep inside every topic, just would love to see street gangs through his eyes Sci fi space horror - wow, are there any directors left who haven't done it yet? lol The Wachowski Bros. - they're terrific at sci-fi.
