Has anyone seen this video and know where I can find it?

Has anyone ever seen this movie? English thriller, late 90s?

• I've asked this question before but had no success. It's like this movie has disappeared from the face of the earth, I cannot find evidence for its existance ANYWHERE online but I know it did/does! I rented it from the video shop in the late 90s or possibly early 2000s. Basing it on this, I reckon the movie was made around then too. I'm almost certain it was English, I can still hear some of the characters voices in my head (only on demand!) and they had English accents. The whole movie was seen through the eyes of the protagonist who was called Alex. The movie may have even been called 'Alex' but for the life of me, I cannot find it anywhere via google. Anyway, Alex had some kind of disorder (maybe something along the lines of schizophrenia) and regularly took medication and went to see a doctor. I remember a few conversations with the doctor, not fully, but I remember the doctor (who I think was a woman) being an established character in the movie. You don't actually see Alex's face at all, you can only hear Alex's voice and only see what Alex sees, the movie is entirely through Alex's eyes. I can't remember how it happened or what series of events happened, but Alex loses the plot and kidnaps a girl. I don't think it is supposed to be unkind to begin with, perhaps a crush turned to obsession, or just loneliness turned dangerous. Anyway Alex keeps this woman prisioner so to speak and I remember one quite disturbing scene where Alex is force-feeding an entire, huge lasagna to the woman. With that desperate, out of control behaviour where someone thinks they're doing the right thing for someone but actually they're really upsetting them and hurting them. I think the woman died after this, choking or something. She died at some point anyway. And then.........drum roll please.......you get the truth 'twist' ending. Alex is actually a woman. You see her for the first time in the shower and she is a woman. It's just an assumption throughout the whole movie that it's a dude. Has anyone ever seen this?! I don't remember it being amazing, it just bugs me I can't find any information about it anywhere. I've tried google, wikipedia, IMDB of course...ahhh! Any help appreciated :)

  I've spent the last five minutes searching with the keywords and I can't find anything either! Can you remember what the cover looked like or anything else? The only other thing I can think of is to go to imdb and search characters called Alex, but that could take a very long time unless they have any filters that you can find. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
