BBQ: What's more depressing, Lilya- 4ever or Dancer In The Dark?

    "depressing and soul crushing movies" and nobody mentioned "Dirty Dancing?" I feel crushed having to sit through it. I'll be honest and say I haven't seen most on the list. I will remedy that. 1> Requiem for a Dream is obviously the top of most peoples list for this one. I was in the horrors after watching it. 2> Million Dollar Baby as well but then I saw it 3 times in 2 days cause everybody I visited had it on pirate disk for some reason. 3> I'm going to through Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance in here. Nobody does well in it. 4> American History X 5> A.I. Artificial Intelligence Now, the Butterfly Effect... I'm trying to figure this one out. ***SPOILER*** Is the ending where Kutcher kills himself as a baby the one that was the featured release. That's the one I originally saw, but I watched it in a hostel one night and it was the happy ending where he travels back and scares the **** out of the girl so she leaves with her mother. Everything works out great and then he's a great guy in the future, walking through the city when he passes the girl and they both sorta recognize each other. Which was the main release? I saw Donnie Darko listed and I gotta disagree. I thought the ending was kinda uplifting. Donnie's happy when he knows he's going to die. He knows that he won't be there to take the girl he likes to the place and time that she'll be hit by Frank in the car. Just my opinion. EDIT: There's actually quite a few there listed by everybody else that I really like. 21 Grams, Leaving Las Vegas, Mystic River, American Beauty, etc. There's also MILK, The Machinist, 1984, Twelve Monkeys, Dead Mans Shoes*, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, etc. I'm kind of excited about watching all of these depressing movies again.

i wouldn't be happy to watch and depressing, soul crushing movie on a weekly basis. that's kind of the point. but otherwise... 1. Leaving Las Vegas 2. Requiem For a Dream 3. 'Night Mother 4. Sophie's Choice 5. Holocaust 6. Breaking the Waves--I haven't seen dancer in the dark. this one was depressing enough 7. On the Beach 8. Midnight Cowboy 9. The Hours--a movie celebrating suicide as a lifestyle choice? 10. Mask BQ: I have serious questions about the guy who keeps asking about barefoot girls getting killed in horror movies. BBQ--haven't seen either. i'm trying to get enough prozac in my system first.
