Getting a job in entertainment?

People who work in the entertainment business?

  • Okay you know how all those celebrities, they start off all innocent, then they sometimes end up being drug addicts or their career starts to fall apart? I know they all sign a contract with their managers that expires after a few years then they gotta renew it if they still want to be with that manager or whatever. But how come it seems like they almost all end up throwing their life away and getting into trouble with the law or getting addicted to stuff or end up in rehab? Is just because they get so stressed out from working so much. Entertainment is like a really big job and takes a lot of work. You're entertaining the world. Or do they get talked into contracts that offer them a lot of money to do these things? Like miley cyrus, this is old news but she started out a good innocent catholic girl. Then she ends up smoking something and having sex and partying and acting out. Same with Britney Spears, she started out innocent, but then she ends up acting out too. and then there are so many other celebrities too. What are you guys doing to them? Is it just because of all the stress and traveling and early wake up times and long hours. I mean they work in entertainment because they love it, so yeah it could be all the stress. Or is there also contracts that some of those managers have that offer the celebrity a certain amount of money to do what it says? Also do celebrities retire like we do? When do they retire, how do they retire? I mean once they are famous they will always have fans. Once they retire and aren't working anymore, does that mean they don't get paid anymore and they gotta get a job like everyone else. Or since they are so rich they actually never have to work again. Do they keep their body guard after they retire? I heard that sometimes when a celebrity signs a contract with someone, it includes a house and the money, but then when they aren't on that contract anymore, they loose everything?

  • Answer:

They get offered money. Money makes people greedy and irrational. They get into drugs or whatever. Die. Then the cycle starts again.

Only a few celebrities end up doing drugs and going to rehad. There are some excelent success stories of rehabilitation too. Look up Robert Downey Jr. on the internet! When a star/celebrity retires he usually has more than enough money from investments to support him and his family for many years. Depending on the individual, a star who retires may keep a bodyguard on retainer. No, contracts very, very rarely include a house. A star who breaks/looses/ends his contract doesn't automatically lose everything. He just gets another manager.

Yep, you are a weirdo alright. What exactly are YOU smoking? The life of these people is NOT hard - it is actually quite easy with assistants to give them whatever they want and do everything for them. They are surrounded by yes men and women who do whatever at every moment. That is there problem. They begin to think they actually are better, bigger and more important and can do anything. They think they can do drugs and party and get away with it. They think they are special and bigger and stronger than the average person. In some ways, they do have a lot more help and can function on dope and alcohol better as they have handlers and managers to take care of so many details. They end up destroying their lives as the fantasy world they believe in is just that. Eventually their bodies give out and they screw up, get sick or kill themselves via an overdose. An assistant or manager cannot prevent you from dying when you snort too much coke or meth. They cannot clean stuff out of your blood for you. Your idea that they are such hard workers is kind of out there. They want you to believe that as that is part of the whole game of selling you records or movies or whatever. In reality, many big stars are glorified pansies who have little in the way of common sense or discipline. Wake up. Miley Cyrus is not a role model or someone to look to for any advice. Few people in music or Hollywood are in any way.
