Why do Bollywood actresses think they have to aim to be a size zero in order to be a top actress?

Its not their fault, theyre doing it for the sake of their careers. Im sure they dont enjoy shedding the kilos. In fact, youre answering your question when you say "why are we making them into something else?" Precisely, its we the audience whos created this trend for going gaga over size zero. "Very few guys in the industry are as fit as Salman Khan and John Abraham and yet they are still successful." I disagree. Fitness isnt about having a pumped up body. Take a look at the Olympian athletes and other sportsmen. Thats true fitness. Ive seen people with big frames like Salman and John getting tired after running a kilometre.

The concept of size zero isn't appealing at all which few of the actresses follow just to create a buzz and hype to be called as " Trend Setters", this is what i feel! All such things including the love stories ...most of them do it for 'name' sake. Today, it's just the appearance, the glamour that seems to be working for them where acting skills or atleast efforts to improve it aren't considered important at all! What would you expect from such actors who aren't capable of improving their skills which is the essence of being an Actor ..? They don't wanna brighten that part and i guess they are not much to blame as the current generation has been falling for such trend on screen with cool locations and thanks to the beautiful singers and lyrics of the old times now being used helping the movie to drag itself to average rating! They're working as per the audience is demanding ...! Bollywood has been actually the best in terms of looks indecency wasn't common as in today (actresses) during the 90's that i've seen! Earlier one's have been great with their simplicity and adayein!:P

I'd second my opinion with crXssfire when he spoke about olympians and bollywood heroes, ask then to run a mile,you'll know the real fitness. To answer your question, I seriously dont know, but if you conduct a poll among urban Indian girls, how many are HONESTLY concerned about being size zero ,I'd say, a very many are,the trend is just being translated here

Its depend only sum actress thinks so and i think ,,in the past indian actress used to be healthy she has not zero size figure but she is famous and popular...

The chief aim of actresses is to please the public. They always do what is appreciated by people. The social values keep on changing.As we are talking about figure, I would like to suggest to go back to the mid 20th century and on wards. You would realize that it was the time when people liked heroines like Meena Kumari, Baijantimala and others like Nalini Jaiwant. in modern scenario they would not be treated as beautiful but if you ask the men of that day they were the emblem of beauty. Now the values have changed. May be because men have also lost the physical get up and strength too. I know men and women of that time having 14 to 18 children and leading a healthy life of 90 years in common.Now people cannot afford more than two not because of financial reasons but physical reasons. Now they like slim girls previously rejected by people commenting as T.B. patient. Mass choice has no meaning. Its a matter of personal choice only.

this IS the same for young hollywood actresses in america. size negative people are NOT better actors nor worse ones. you are either good at it or you aren't. however if you are going to be an actress under the age of 30 you BETTER be skinny, beautiful and a complete "camera tool" (a didnt want to be vulgar). i am in america... look up zoey saldana, scarlett johannsen, keira knightly, angelina jolie (not the pregnant pictures), gwenneth paltrow, the olsen twins, lindsay lohan (though i wouldnt call her an actress anymore... shes more famous for her mug shots than anything else right now). they are ALL rail thin when they are working. even seasoned vets like sandra bullock, susan sarandon, sigourney weaver and jamie lee curtis will slim themselves down for the cameras and then resume looking like "average people" between jobs. it is just what is expected.

Its only Kareena Kapoor who thinks so and she is being disaster as size zero.
