Are all seniors in High School going to college next year have to take Undergraduate Studies? Ok, I'm a 4.02 GPA senior t in High-school, I got accepted to PURDUE UNIVERSITY. I choose "Chemical Engineering" for my Major, but they said that is not an option for me. They said my only option is "Undergraduate Studies", then I can work my way to " First Year Engineering", then "chemical engineering". I really have no idea, I ask my friends, they told me their major( like pharmacy, engineering) , no one say undergraduate studies. Is this mean my grades are not good enough? Is this mean I have to stay longer in college until I graduate from college and have a job? give me the TIME or Are all seniors in High School going to college next year have to take Undergraduate Studies? Thank you, Please help answer me

Answer:
Purdue requires all engineering students to be acquainted with all areas of engineering. So they require all first-year engineering students to complete the general education requirements for engineering before they choose a major within engineering. Sometimes students start Purdue thinking they want to be chemical engineers but then realize that they'd prefer another field once they learn something about all engineering fields. I am not sure why Purdue wants you to start in Undergraduate Studies, which is usually a program for students who have not decided on a major. You may be able to transfer to First-Year Engineering as soon as the second semester of your freshman year. One possibility is that Purdue filled up all of its slots in its engineering school early and that by the time you applied or were admitted, all engineering spots were filled. So, no, not every one has to take "undergraduate studies." However, nearly all college students will have to take some general education courses as part of a degree program. You should be able to take many of the first year engineering courses while in undergraduate studies, e.g. chemistry, physics, calculus, English comp, etc. Your adviser at Purdue will help you make good choices.
