What to expect in an American high school?

I'm moving to Houston in a month and I am going to an American high school. What should I expect? I have been living in Australia for 4 years and I used to go to a private school there. I am going to a private school in Houston and I would like to know if it will be like a stereotypical American high school with cheerleaders/ jocks etc. Any info would be a great help! :)

I went to private school for 8 years, this is my first time in a public school and i hate it -.- don't go to public school. Anyway in private school, depending on which on you go to, the workload is pretty hard, there ARE some of the stereotypical cheerleaders and stuff but not really. You'll make friends trust me..but there are a lot of snobby rich girls there. But I like it :) good luck!
