    Since most 17 year olds that I know do not have many skills or experience in the work force, you'd be relegated to the "lower end" jobs like Waiter, or McDonald's or something. You'll probably not get more than $8/hr starting out and probably end up leaving the job before you make $10/hr. Also, your definition of "high paying" will change once you've been forced to work for minimum wage.

There is always air traffic control. If there is an airport there is a good paying job. High stress I've heard.

for girls, i know that you can can paid very well for working at a nice dry cleaners. also, working at high end restaurants is good becuase you get tips. another possibility is working as a teller in a bank. i believe those are some of the best non-skill jobs available that pay pretty good.

As a 17 year old, you should accept that your place in the universe is to be poor for a bit. I can however suggest the job I started when I was 18. It only pays $1374.00 a month at first, but after 16 years I make nearly $70,000 a year.
