Will anyone please help me edit my essay for school?

Thank you :) As a child, one might dream of being a princess or a firefighter when they grow up, but sometimes those dreams do not come true. Opinions change and people see the bigger picture about having a job. One year a person might consider being a bank accountant, and the next year being a paleontologist. It’s a critical choice to one’s life and that choice may end up being a special education teacher. Special education teachers devote a lot of time with being one on one with kids who have more needs then other children. Of course, when deciding if this is a person’s dream job, they should know what a special education teacher does on a day to day basis, the high and lows of such a career, the requirements to become a special education teacher, and what a person could do to prepare for such a job in high school. On a day to day basis, special education teachers work with children that are different than other children. Some things that might make the child different is they can’t comprehend or understand things like other kids, some may not be able to speak or move parts of their bodies, and some may think at a lower level then other children. According to bls.gov.com, “Special education teachers help to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student receiving special education. The IEP sets personalized goals for the student and is tailored to that student's individual needs and abilities.”(1) Special education teachers make plans for each child that they are responsible for accordingly to their personal needs, making sure that each goal will realistically be met someday. According to Wiscareers, special education teachers also monitor the progress of their students throughout the whole school year (1). This will show the teachers where the student’s strengths are and where they need help for in the future. Basically a special education teacher has similar roles to an elementary school teacher since most of the special education students stay in one classroom. By the end of the school year, special education teachers could make $44,920 since that is the national average according to Wiscareers (1). Of course this is not such an easy job; it defiantly has its highs and lows just like any other job. Being a special education teacher can really open the eyes of some people. As stated in about.com’s article written by Sue Watson, she says, “I spent many months working with a child with Cerebral Palsy with the main goal being achieving a yes/no response. After months of working on this, it was achieved and she would raise her hand for yes and shake her head for no. These kinds of things are often just taken for granted, this was a very big learning leap for this child and made the world of difference.”(1) Everyday humans use the ability to talk to people, walk around to get to destinations, and write their name without even thinking about it. These children with needs spend their days working on goals such as moving a part of their body to symbolize something. The average human being takes for granted all the abilities humans have. That’s why working with these kinds of children can be a positive thing, helping them to achieve goals that can help them throughout the rest of their lives. Another thing that would be considered a high for special education teachers is just the fact that they are helping a child with needs according to Wiscareers (1). This is a very good thing because helping someone gives a sense of pride for most people, knowing that being a special education teacher can make a difference to the students. Although this job is not all inspirational fun, it does have its disadvantages too. Kids with these disabilities can be the sweetest things at one moment or an aggressive monster the next. On Bright Hub, an author that goes by the username stacy1172, writes an article talking about how kids can be unpredictable and so aggressive at times. Based on what the author said, a special education teacher needs the skill of patience’s to keep the outburst under control along with a peaceful head during these aggressive outburst to not disturb the child more then what the child is going through during this experience. A downer to being a special education teacher is how many hours they work. A special education teacher can work 36-40 hours in a classroom and 10-20 hours of planning material per week according to Wiscareer (1). Now of course teachers can’t do everything at school they also have to bring work home with them for grading, planning, meetings etc. For what special education teachers do they don’t get a lot for doing it. Too bad a person can’t just walk into a building and start working there. People actually have requirements to become a teacher.
