Why do people say that pediatric oncologist get emotional about their job?

by no means am i trying to be rude. i respect pediatric oncologists! its just that ive heard pediatric oncologist just prescribe treatments and the nurses administer it so it seems like the nurses are the people who know the patients best. ive been trying to look it up but i still dont know all the tasks that oncologist have. if you know please say

An oncologist treats cancer. A pediatric oncologist treats children with cancer. Since cancer CAN be fatal,and the treatments usually make the patients sick and very uncomfortable, the idea of a child suffering in that way is more devastating for the doctor than treating an adult who can understand what's happening. Often the parents have a very difficult time coping, which is more of a burden for the doctor.
