What's the name for a high school diploma?

Is it possible to verify a high school diploma if you do not know the school name?

• I applied for a job recently. In the advertisement the job said it required a high school diploma. I have a GED. Nowhere on the application did it ask for any education information. I never entered a school name or location during the application process. Is it possible for an employer to see high school diploma records in a background check without any information on the school you attended? I am in the middle of a background check for a $12 an hour job. See kids, get your diplomas or you will be making $12 an hour. I am hoping the background check is just criminal and not education too. I have never even had a speeding ticket in 20 years of driving let alone a criminal record.

  I don't think there will be a problem. Some people do consider a GED to be a high school diploma. However, you never told him that you have a diploma. Even if they did find out that you have a GED, they might not be concerned. You probably have some job experience by now, so the kind of high school credential you have won't be as important as it might be if you were 20.
