Do you think my school did right by removing 8th grade books and replacing them with 9th grade books?
-
They replaced the books of 8th grade with those of 9th grade and books of 9th grade with those of 10th grade. Students were made to choose between Group III electives(subjects) -- Computer Applications and Economic Applications -- at the end of 7th grade. 8th grade books and the last few (the most interesting) chapters of 9th grade books were not at all formally taught to the students. I believe the school did so because they wanted the students to start preparing early for ICSE exams(the Indian equivalent of GCSE exams), while completely ignoring that 8th grade books contained the basic concepts of what students were going to be taught in 9th and 10th grades and that 8th grade books would have made it easier for students to understand 9th and 10th grade concepts. No parent or guardian of any student complained about this.
