I was given the assigned topic for my senior speech, physical education. can you help me find an attention get

When you "take the stage" do a cartwheel or other gymnastic movement before you start.

dress up for the part in some sort of athletic gear... jersey, head band, whistle etc... talk about some activities in gym class such as tag, jogging, knock out, and fun things to do in class like break out, football basketball, extreme frisbee etc. it would also be helpful to discuss the teaching part of pe like educating students about being healthy and the importance of exercise.. i would def. use a powerpoint and interview some gym teachers.

make you audience become involved....ask them to stand up and raise their arms in the air to get the oxygen to flow....also you could play some music that is uplifting and make them dance like Ellen D. does.....get them involved and be ambitious and energetic....good luck....You can do it....

All of the above answers are sure beginning attention getters; but if you want to really drive the point home, you can finish strong with the inequality between the time, coaching staff, and money spent on women's sports vs men's sports in both high school and college. All you have to do is sit and watch a few high school games (or even grade school for that matter) and see how much support they young girls get. When they get to high school, they don't have the band playing at their games, most times they don't have cheerleaders at their games, and you will never see full bleachers. Look around the school itself before the women's games. Do you see posters? Are there pep rallies? Very gifted young women can gain college sports scholarships; but again, it is much more difficult for them than it is for the young men. The only real "professional" ground that women have finally been able to break into has been the Women's National Basketball Association. This has been a step in the right direction; but I am going to post a link to the WNBA site as well as a link to the Men's National Basketball Association. I hope you will take the time to compare the difference in the salary range between the two sexes. I also hope you have the opportunity to watch both college men and college women play basketball; and then to watch professional men and professional women play basketball. The games are equally as exciting. The women have "Got Game"! The saddest part of it all is that the women don't get time off during their off season to practice. Most of them either have to hold down jobs (they are doctors, lawyers, and other professional women as well as basketball players); or they have to go out of the country and play for other countries in order to keep up their skill levels. The men don't have to do this because their salaries allow them the freedom to train and to have time off. In addition, I hope you will also look up the good work that many of the women professional basketball players are doing. Just as the men, they know the value of giving back to the community and have various foundations and charities that they support. I hope this has been an answer for you in a time when physical fitness is not seen as the important thing that it once was in schools. I am a firm believer that it is of utmost importance and is something that should never have funding cut on. Even more than that, I am totally against the fact that women's sports were more affected by the cuts than men's. People are people are people. Students are students are students. Athletes are athletes are athletes. I do hope the time will come when we will all be able to make this distinction. Good luck on your paper.
