  • Answer:

You said: 1. You feel left out. 2. You don't get everyone there. 3. You're tired of your school. Well he may think that these are small reasons. He may also think that you are being emotional and that the reasons aren't real. You will have to do your own examples, but here are some big points that have a vivid picture (which is what you need in order to convince - bigness and vividness). 1. These people are from a completely different background. I get socially excluded from their group. I don't get on with them at all. The others are developing their confidence, social abilities and friendships and other life skills even further, but I'm being left out. An educational experience where I can mature socially with my peers is essential. 2. Here are some examples of how the guys there behave and act. [I won't state any examples here, as you will have your own anyway. The less examples the better. They should be clear, visual, big, true.] 3. The school is effecting my emotions, mood and faculties. There might be disadvantageous mental consequences to this, such as, the fact that over time I might come to associate learning with pain or anguish. The other technique to convince someone is to connect each argument to your aim. for example you could keep saying "this is a reason I am giving you about moving schools." Keep reminding him what you are talking about. Ok let's look at his view that some schools are bad. Well if you're changing school just to hang around with some people who happen to be a bad influence, then he is never going to be convinced, and he will already know what you are trying to do. So you see, convincing someone is about what there point of view is. You can also sometimes ask him to tell you stories about when he was at school. This gets him to relate to your situation through his own point of view. To convince him, the school should also have a good reputation, and a good record. He is afraid it won't. So you will need a school that does. The skill of convincing is to convince in steps, one point at a time. The first step is something like "I want to find out about other schools, but I'm not saying to decide anything about changing schools, but just to look at it and keep an open mind. Only look at good ones." If he agrees to this, then the next step is to keep on about it. "its only to look into it and keep an open mind. Perhaps we can do that today." http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-11950098
