Graduate School in the UK.

What age do people graduate secondary school in UK?

  • Answer:

In England you can leave secondary school school in the year you turn 16, or you can continue on at sixth form, and so leave at the age of 18. However, I think that they are changing this to make sure that you have to stay in some form of education/training until you are 18 (my brother will have to do this).

It varies from country to country in the U.K. - in England its 16/17 but in Scotland you can leave when you're 16 but some people stay until they're 17/18, which is 6th year (still part of secondary school). I dont really know Wales or R.O.I but i hope this helps xx

We don't graduate We finish compulsory secondary school at 16. We are not legally obliged to take any GCSEs. Most people stay on to do their GCSEs because they are a staple requirement in nearly all employments at either 16, or 15 if your birthday falls late in the academic year (Late July, August) . But we have no graduation ceremonies etc. Maybe a Leaver's Ball, but the only people who graduate are those who go to, and complete a degree course at University.
