What should I expect from High school?

What should I expect in high school ROTC?

• I am going to high school on Monday and i have ROTC as one of my classes and was wondering what am i to expect there? is it going to be really difficult or what? i joined because i thought it would be good for me. The high school im going to is Rockdale County High School if that matters.

  High school ROTC is called Junior ROTC (JROTC). Anyways there are activities you can join like Raider/Ranger team, Rifle/Marksmanship team, Armed Exhibition Drill Team, Unarmed Drill Team, Orienteering team, and Cannon Team. I'm going to be in JROTC this year and I'm doing Armed Exhibition Drill team and rifle. Don't do Raider/Ranger unless your in really good shape! The cannon team shoots off the cannon and does 7 push ups every time your home team scores at a football game. Anyways in the class you wear the uniform once a week. Run a mile occasionally so everyone is in shape. Sometimes you will have to wear BDU's (Battle Dress Uniform) the camouflage. You learn Military rank and structure. Military history and such. It isn't that difficult. Like you will start out as a Cadet Private and you advance in rank as if you were really in the military. When you get to a NCO's rank (sergeant) you take a NCO test. You can become a officer in it but it is a really hard. Then the cadets that are officers (usually in let 3 or 4) you have to salute when you see them. Junior ROTC does community service so it looks really good on college applications. If you want to join the military after high school (like me) you get to go in as a E-3 instead of a E-1. In the air force that is a Airman First Class in the Army I think that is either Corporal or Specialist. They won't expect you to be in shape at first! Uh there are usually two teachers who teach it a NCO (Non-commissioned Officer) and a Officer. For example at my school there is a Staff Sergeant and a Major. If your going to be a freshman it is a really easy way to meet new people and upperclassman. Don't disrepect the uniform when you wear it! If you do you will get yelled out by ANYONE who outranks you (if your going to be in LET 1) then that will be pretty much everyone!
