AP Exams!!! Need help deciding what to do?

  • Hi! im a sophomore in high school and im thinking of taking these ap classes this year. AP European History AP Human Geography AP Psychology AP Environmental Science I want to get at least a 4 on each of the exams and want to have taken 8 exams by the end of junior year. Does that seem reasonable. Im planning on majoring in business but i want to take 8 exams to get the award. what are some study techniques you recommend. Im only taking the AP european history class at my school and am thinking of just buying the study books for the other 3 and start studying right now until may. What are some other AP classes that are easy or kind of easy. THANKS

  • Answer:

Wow. You're only a sophomore? Most schools don't even allow you to begin taking AP classes until junior year. Personally, I'd advise you to take the subjects you are passionate about. Don't torture yourself by taking AP European History if you have no interest learning about Europe's history. AP classes tend to give large workloads, so I would think twice about taking so many at one time. If you're doing sports or other extracurricular activities, I'd watch your time.

Below is a list of AP exams, the number next to the name represents the number of credits you'll recieve if you pass. as far as which ones are easy AP exams are the hardest when it comes to college level examinations. if you can take CLEP's they are the easiest then Dantes. I would think psychology wouldn't be too bad, even env science. check out the list and pick something that you already have a general knowledge of. studying those books doesn't always prepare you, what happens is you study the wrong stuff. well good luck! Hold on there partner....AP classes (or the passing grade on the exams) are not the ticket to success. I know that probably goes against everything your parents and teachers have told you, but it's true. My daughter took all the AP classes and passed all the tests with 4s and 5s and guess what? After 1 1/2 years at UC Berkeley they told her she had too many units and needed to graduate! She did not want to graduate as she had just figured out what she wanted to be when she grew up. She was loving being a college student and so she had to drop all her AP units off of her transcripts. At least UCB allowed her to do that. I'm not sure if every university allows that. It's something for you to think about and ask about as you seek information from various universities. It seems that all the brightest kids these days are feeling sooooo pressured to DO IT ALL! I would suggest that you ease up a bit and enjoy life. Don't put too much stock in taking all the APs when you could spend some of your time learning a sport, playing a musical instrument, hanging out with friends, serving in a soup kitchen or just reading for fun!!!! Life is short my dear.

i took AP psychology last year, and it was easy. i got a 4 with minimal studying. i'm also in AP envi. sci. right now and it is a very interesting class and i heard that it is one of the easiest AP tests. i've never been in AP euro, but i've mostly heard that it's hard and requires a lot of effort. try taking AP U.S. History and AP English and AP Stats, i found them to be easy as well.
