How do i go about getting year 10 work experience at a primary school?

  • im in year 10 and we get a week work experience. when i leave im want to be a primary school teacher. how do i go about getting work experience at a school. Should i email? call? write letters? i have two weeks for my note to be in. any tips? thanks.

    I did my work experience in a primary school and what our school did was sent letters out to local schools asking if people could go to them schools. Some said yes and some said no so what I did was go to my past primary school and ask if I could go there and they said yes! So my advice is to actually go into a primary school and ask if they would take you on!

Usually your school will organise it for you but if this isn't the case for you I'd pretty much agree with the other response. I'd call the schools first and introduce yourself and ask if they'd be willing to have you as a work experience student. I have been working in a primary school prior to starting my PGCE and we valued work experience students a lot so I'm sure many would say yes. You can offer to email or send a letter so they've got it in writing too. As the other person said, if you still live near your old primary school, they might be your best bet as they may be most likely to take you on.
