What is school premises?

Can a private school make you wear a uniform when you are not on their premises?

  • Say for example you use public transport to travel to the school. Can they require that you wear the uniform before you arrive or after you leave the school grounds or not? I mean, wouldn't it be reasonable to say that you could get changed when you arrive at school, like workers usually do, if you arrive early enough?

  • Answer:

    They can require that you be in uniform when you arrive, though they probably can't stop you from, say, changing in a public restroom of a business nearby. If the buses are their buses, they can require that you be in uniform when you board the bus.

Sounds reasonable to me that you would change there. However, that does involve you going into the building out of uniform, so I guess they could call you out on it.

A school institution does NOT have the ability to tell you what to wear off campus. Theoretically the problem here is changing on campus or not. If you change on campus that means you have to enter campus out of uniform which people may be dismayed about. Otherwise as long as you wear your required uniform while on campus there should be no problem.

As long as you are dressed in proper clothing when on school campus that is all that matters. Think about it, that is like the school telling you what to wear during the summer. But you most likely also have to wear a uniform to school events(games, festivals, etc.)

Outside of school hours, and premises you are free from school rules. Unless you're in some sort of field trip, but otherwise you don't have to abide by their rules, they're only territory enforced.

Nope, workers do because it is convenient, as long as you have time to change before you enter class or 'become a student' it's fine

I believe that as long as you enter school grounds wearing the appropriate uniform then whatever you wear on the way there or home doesn't matter. Its a free world! :)

I don't think they r allowed to do that. only when you ar AT school they can tell you but not when you are traveling to and from.
