Can Private schools in the U.S or the U.K accept student for 11th or 12 grade if they have high SAT scores?

lets say a student from another country does the SAT at 10th grade and have received high SAT scores can they apply to private schools in the U.K or the U.S and get through for 11th or 12th grade, in order to get a high school diploma?

Answer:
You can always apply. First issue would be a space, since most good private schools (that have more applicants than spaces) generally do not add any open spaces for 10th - 12th, so a space would only be open if someone left. Generally, in this case, they'll state that there may be 0 - 3 spaces. A few schools, mostly boarding schools, do add spaces for 10th grade, but not for 11th or 12th. Some US private schools have a very strict no senior admits, because the student's curriculum may be different, so they may be missing important classes that they were supposed to take as seniors at their old school but students in 10th grade take it at the new school and it won't work out schedule-wise. (This happens usually with history and science classes.) In my area private school curriculum varies among similar schools, so it is an issue. Another reason is because good private schools depend on matriculation to top colleges for their students, that's why parents spend the money to send their kids to private school. Bringing in a student that they don't know, who may not be able to be admitted to a 4 year college, is a problem. However, some schools will make an exception for a top student who was at a similar private school, and their family moved unexpectedly. They really really don't like to do it for 12th grade (at least the good private schools don't), and they don't like to do it for 11th grade, but they're more likely to. There is more to being admitted than just good standardized scores. Consistently good grades is more important since it shows a student is willing to do the work. Some very bright kids don't test well. A 2200 SAT score but a B average wouldn't look so good to top private schools. Also, a student must be in the right grade for their age. Many US private schools don't admit international students, even if they did in the past (too much hassle), although if your family moves here that's a different story. They do not typically accept international students living with "family friends" or "relatives", there have been too many problems with helicopter kids in the past. Boarding schools generally do admit international students (not living with parents) into their boarding program, but not into their day program. Good luck!
