Is there any GED school online that just like cyber school?

Torn between getting my GED and High School Diploma..?

  • I'am currently living in GA..I only been living here for a couple of months and have no clue what they offer.. I'm 19 and babie # 2 is on the way yea I knoe what was I thinking... I was 16 when I found out I was Pregnant with my first.. he is now almost 2 and babie # 2 is due November.9... Before I got pregnant I was a straight A and B student and through my pregnancy I still attened school full time... I'm really motivated for school I love waking up every morning and getting ready...now that I'm expecting another I haven't been to school because they told me since I missed so many school days due to lack of help on babysitting they suggested that I get my GED. when they said that getting my GED is for the best my heart sank because I'm into getting a good education for myself I always had a high standard for myself since I never had a mom or dad to guide me... I've been looking for programs that is just like school that offers high school diploma and have no clue what I'm doing and just the thought of getting a GED is not bad but it's not what I want... I know when life gets tough you have to do things you dont want to do but all the achievments I've made in school feels like I never achieved them... from 9th to the beginning of senior year teachers told me that I earned more credits then a regular high student and my education level is of a high school and college student... and from there I've helped alot of college student with their work including teachers... I guess I have a feeling of guilt and failure since I feel blocked for descion making regarding getting My GED and HSD... Sorry for babbling but I guess what I'm asking is What should I do and if there are any programs that offeres diploma where can I go to attend? I also heard that you can still go to school but you can't when you turn 21... I would have graduated this year since I only had a few months lefted but due to lack of help I didn't... So I'm tring really hard to get myself back into a school setting where I can suceed and graduate..

Just wondering if your move was because of the military or not? My husband & I live in GA & I know the Army offers the spouse lots of programs so you can get your HSD. I would call a high school located near you. Ask to speak with the guidance counselor, & they should help point you in the right direction. I know that some schools offer programs that are 6 months long & you will graduate with your HSD. You could have your transcript from your previous school sent over so they can have a look & tell you what they think is best. Good Luck!

No!!! You didn't screw it up, not yet anyway. Get the HSD. They're telling you about the GED because it will be easier. However, if you do get the GED all you have to do is go to a Tech school or junior college for the first year to get yourself established. If you do well there you can get into any college or university.

I was in a similar situation. If you plan on going to college, i think getting your GED would suffice. Its sounds like your a really smart girl and I don't think a piece of paper should hold you back from your true potential. Having a baby is really tough and I know some girls that had to come to the conclusion that going to high school and being a full time mom just isn't feasible. On the other hand, getting a diploma does look better on your resume, but usually employers go by your highest level of education, so getting a college degree would work. If you go on to your local www.gov websites there should be a free college education for moms under 26 and free daycare programs. You can also fill out your FAFSA form and qualify for large grants for college. I hope this helps. Good luck with everything.

See if your local college offers a program where you can take college courses and finish high school at the same time. I know many do. Also; GED's are harder, so unless you're looking for a challenge, I'd try getting a diploma.

I got my GED. If I could do it all over again I would have graduated. I am 30 now and I have dreams ALL the time that I am going back to highschool to graduate w/ my class. finish highschool, do your best to get good grades, talk to your teacher privately in the classes you are having the most issues in, ask if you can do any extra credit projects.

A GED is not bad at all and it does the same thing for you that a diploma does, but if you are set on the diploma and that will be what makes you feel happy then go for that. You sound like a hard working girl that can do anything so I will go ahead and say You can do it! you are young and in America anything is possible.good luck!

If you really want to get a degree, check out an online high school, they are completely free. They will provide you with the computer equipment and all. Basically, if you enroll with them, you can go to school at your own time (in your case do your work when your kids are asleep, etc.). I taught online courses for K12 and many of my kids were either from rural areas where schools were too far of a commute or they were children mandated to this type of schooling due to pregnancy, truancy issues, etc. www.k12.com Good luck!

Get your GED.. highschoolers these days getting pregnant at very low ages.. SO DISAPPOINTING...

If you plan on going to Junior College before heading to a regular college, one is just as good as the other. Larger colleges look at junior college grade scores more than what you did in high school if you are a JC grad. This is reality, my friend. Since you are already in this boat heading downstream, you have to adjust what you may have had planned just a little, and get what you want back out of life again. Don't listen to these people telling you about disappointment in you because of what has happened---just swim the waves and make the best of it. Get your GED. Then enroll immediately into a Junior College. Go for two years--and try hard. It is better than high school, and you will see. But try, and go to their counselors to ask their advice too. It is the way it is--and junior college is the better jumping off point for regular university than high school hands down. You rock---but you will only continue rocking if you get that GED, enroll in a JC, and then try hard to get good grades. No whining along the way, we all got it tough and we all have to fight the current sometimes. You're doing just fine--and things can only get better!!

YOU do what YOU want. It's something you have to live with for the rest of your life. Don't let them persuade you either way.
