Is it possible to make it into a UC school with an F?

Can you make it to a UC school with a GPA of 2.666?

  • Im a senior at high school right now with a gpa of 2.666. UC schools require you to have at least a 3.0 GPA. What if by the end of the school year I have a better GPA. Is it too late by then to apply to a UC school?

  • Answer:

You have to first figure out if your UC GPA is over 3.0 (you are not eligible to apply if your UC GPA is below 3.0). UC GPA is calculated using a-g courses you took in 10th and 11th grades, plus any summer classes (after 9th, after 10th, and after 11th). If your UC GPA is over 3.0, apply and see what happens. If your UC GPA is below 3.0, you can still qualify to apply by scoring, on average, 700 or better on all sections of the SAT Reasoning Test and the two Subject Tests (see additional details on satisfying this requirement here: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/freshman/exam_eligibility.html )

to be honest, i don't know if you have a good chance of getting in. i know that they can accept students, contingent on how they do for the remainder of the year. but, what you submit during admissions is what they see. my friend got into UCI, was accepted with honors, and got a D in ap english...so they dropped him and he ended up in a community college. but he's transferring this year to a UC. they spend a max of 2 minutes on each application...and in those 2 minutes, they have to see something really impressive. do you have a lot of community service? extra curriculars...like sports or clubs? good SAT/SATII scores? act? as i said, you also have the option of transferring into a UC after completing required classes at a community college. many junior colleges in CA have joint contracts with UCs for students to transfer in after the completion of 2 years, a minimum gpa, and the accruement of specified classes in the intended major.

Go to community college and get your grades up. College is a lot easier to transfer into than straight from high school.
