Help with essay question on Key Club application... And which teacher should I get the recommendation from?
-
So I’m a freshman and I’ve been looking into the clubs at my high school. And out of all of them, I really want to get into Key Club the most. But my school is really big, so for each club there are applications and they pick the highest amount of people they can. On the Key Club application, there’s a bunch of essay questions which were all pretty easy to me except “What will you do to contribute to Key Club?” What should I say there? I don’t really get the question entirely. There’s also a teacher recommendation part on back. I can pick any teacher to fill it out for me.. .They have to rate me on responsibility, getting to class on time, having a positive attitude, helpfulness, participation in class, and willingness to take a positive lead… Which teacher should I pick? Btw it’s only the 3rd week of school, so I still don’t have the teachers all figured out and stuff. 1: Language Arts teacher. He’s really chill. My assigned seat is in back of class, so he doesn’t see me much, but on random occasions he’ll ask me questions to let me know he knows I‘m there. I’ve gotten really good grades in his class so far. I’m never late, but I’m not early either. I get there when most of the class is there. He’s one of those teachers who just makes us copy notes and take tests/quizzes, so he hasn’t gotten to know any of us much, but he is nice. I very rarely raise my hand. But he jokes with me sometimes. 2: Algebra teacher. He’s a little nerdy. He has a really bad batch of students in my period… They’re always joking around and I’m pretty sure I have the best grade in that class. He laughs at his own jokes. I do my homework every day. But I never raise my hand, but I’m sure he knows I know the answer anyway, so he doesn’t care. I get to his class pretty early. When just a few people are there. I ask questions whenever I need to. 3: He’s really adventurous. He loves what he teaches - Biology. I don’t raise my hand much, but a lot of times he says stuff like “I see you hiding in that corner. Briana, what do you think?” in a jokingly way. He’s really nice. I get to his class right in the middle. Half the class is usually there. I ask questions a lot wand when we’re doing labs or something I do a lot of participating. I have average grades in his class. Mostly B’s. But I’m one of the few who always does the homework. 4: Spanish teacher. He’s the type who holds what he’s feeling in until that one day you come in and he lets it all out on you (the class). I talk a little more than I should in that class and he has to call my name sometimes, but not as much as a lot of other people. I don’t really participate, but I still get good grades and always get the notes. I get to his class pretty early. I don’t usually have my book though, but he doesn’t care. As long as I don’t talk a lot when I’m looking on with my friend behind me. 5: Chorus teacher. There’s so many girls in that class that it’s hard to get to know the teachers personally. So I’m not even going to ask about her. 6: Advisement teacher. She hates me… When the day starts coming to an end, I usually start wilding out and becoming more talkative. I know and talk to everyone in that class. And on top of that, my three best friends are in that class, so we get really loud and gossipy. But I always participate in whatever she wants us to do and I’m really polite to her and whoever else comes in. I get to class in the middle. 7: Health teacher. This is who I was planning on giving the application to before I decided to post this. I get to her class pretty early. I’m definitely the loudest and most talkative in that class though… She is really laid back though, so she doesn’t care as long as I get the work done. Which I do, 90% of the time. I probably have one of the highest grades in her class. She always says stuff like she wishes she had my energy. And I’m always joking with her and she made me her personal helper. Well… Actually, I offered and she accepted. Haha. I have a positive attitude. But I have to admit, sometimes I can tell I get on her nerves.. So could you help me choose? Thanks!

Answer:
As for your first question, you should should say something like you can help organize meetings (if you want to show off your leadership skills) and plan projects (if you're into helping the environment or just like planning). As for choosing a teacher, I would go with the biology teacher or health teacher since they seem to be the most easygoing serious about their work out of the seven you've named. Good luck! :)
