How to do Medical Coding and Billing course or whatever?

Interested in train-at-home course 4 medical coding & billing...?

  • I'm interesting in taking a train-at-home course (I live in a rural area & am disabled) and want feedback from someone who has taken a home study course for medical coding and billing. Which accredited school did you go through? Was the training sufficient? Did they offer any financial aid and job placement assistance? Do you now use this training as your primary occupation? I also hear that the medical transcriptionist field is a good one too.

    Hi, Here are three approved online medical transription schools...They are approved by the American Association for Medical Transcription. AAMT Approved online schools: 1) www.careerstep.com 2) www.mtecinc.com 3) www.andrewsschool.com careerstep and mtecinc provide financial loans but i'm not sure about andrewsschool. all three of them also provide job placement assistance. You can finish these online programs in as little as 1 year. YOU CAN ALSO CHECK OUT THESE SITES FOR MORE INFORMATION: www.aamt.org www.mtia.com Medical Transcription pay depends on how much dictation you do and how much you're being paid per line. and sometimes you can be paid by the hour. Medical transcriptionists can make up to $40 per hour, but this is when you have alot of experience. you can start off to about $6.00-$12.00 per hour and then after 3 months raise to about $12.00-$24.00 per hour. It all depends on the way you are being paid. IT ALSO DEPENDS ON HOW FAST AND ACCURATE YOU ARE AND HOW MUCH WORK YOU ARE WILLING TO DO... YOU DECIDE HOW MUCH MONEY YOU MAKE ---- In my opinion it's way cheaper to study Medical Trancription over the internet then to go to community college. I hope this helps. p.s. I am in my last semester at a university. I cant imagine trying to learn coding and transcription without the help of my professors. Also, a lot of places want you to be certified CCS, RHIT or RHIA. These are all through AHIMA, the main national organization. Find out if the school is accrd. through them. If not, you cant get that certification.
