What are my chances to get into UCF?

I'm a junior in high school with a weighted GPA of 3.2 what are my chances of being accepted into USF?

  • I have yet to take the SAT and the ACT so i do not have my scores but i know they contribute a lot to my acceptance in a college or not... But, I play tennis for my school i am number 4 in the whole tennis team and won some matches, I am currently in HOSA (Health occupational Safety Association) (it's a club) I placed 2nd in districts and get to go to states. (I'm trying to do more extracurricular activities). My grades aren't the best and my grades in math are low.. I'm a junior and i make D's in Algebra 2... But i am taking 3 AP classes right now and i'm getting decent grades in those classes but yet to pass a AP exam i hope to pass at least 2 this year. I work a part-time job so most of my time goes there and for tennis practice so i barely have time to study and do homework. I really screwed up my freshman and sophomore year because i didn't really think of school as "important". Not trying to sound cocky or anything but i know i can do better and if i just focus i'm sure i can get A's and raise my GPA up but will my past years screw up my chances for getting into college? I'm enrolled in the MEDICAL MAGNET at my school so i take some medical classes. I want to just be able to be accepted into USF (university of Florida) or UCF ( University of central Florida) and or FSU (Florida State university. Please tell me what you guys think and don't be afraid to hit me with the truth. I'm trying to turn my life around all answers are welcome. Thank you.

  • Answer:

You need to bring up that GPA to have any chance at any of the three colleges you have listed. Get rid of that job. Your grades are more important. Retake algebra 2, you might be able to use credit retrieval for that.

As it is now, I don't think you would get into any of those.

Now, I'm not exactly sure, but I believe my guidance counselor told my class that colleges look at all four years in high school (especially for extracurricular activities) but that they focus mainly on junior and senior year for grades and recommendations though you can really ask anyone for those. You're in a lot of extracurricular activities so that's really great, especially if you've been involved in them for more than a year. 50% of the enrolling freshmen for USF had GPA's of 3.58-4.08. I'm pretty sure you can raise your GPA up to about 3.58. Let that be your goal. Keep trying, you've got a good chance of getting in.
