What do high schools look at?

What grades do high schools look at? I'm in 8th grade and my grades are not so good so I'm just wondering.?

  • Okay so as I said I'm in 8th grade and I have an F in Algebra and a D- in science. I really do try in both of these classes but when it comes to tests I can't remember anything and I fail. I'm really scared because I feel like I am not going to make it to high school. So I just want to know what grades high school looks at? By the way my grades in both of these classes were good the first two semesters. If you answer this thank you so much!

Well if your school is anything like my school was then no matter what your grades are, you'll still graduate...heck, kids at my school who always skipped, got suspended and were doing really poorly still graduated from grade 8 and got to go to high school...the only way that you may have a difficult time getting into high school is if you are applying to one of those "genius" schools...and as far as universities go, most just look at your grade 11 and 12 marks as well as community involvement/extracurricular's i would suggest taking applied math and science courses when you get to high school though...they'll go at a slower pace than the academic classes making it a little easier for you....this of course is unless you're able to pull your marks back up, then just do what you think would be best for you :) p.s. soo don't stress yourself...if you feel like you're really struggling, get a tutor or request extra help sessions from your teacher

High schools don't consider your grades, except if you are trying to enter the Honors, AP or IB programs or another specialized school. If you pass 8th, you'll advance to your selected high school. Colleges will consider grades from 9th grade to graduation. I have never heard of a university requesting junior high records. This is why you start with a clean GPA in high school - clean slate. Just study hard, get some tutoring help if needed, and keep your grades up in high school.

High schools are not that hard to get into. I mean as long as you are not going for the top one in your area you'll be fine. My friend was inspecial edd and had bad grades in everything and he still got in. It's just colleges you have to worry about

I worry about the same thing. My mom said that colleges wanted her papers from all the way back to junior high. But my teachers keep telling me that 9th grade is were colleges start looking at your grades.
