How to make friends in a new high school freshmen year?

Transferring high school for sophomore year?

  • I go to a high school out of my district; it's 20 minutes away from where I live and the school I'm deciding on transferring to is 10 minutes away from my home. I'm really not sure if I should transfer before summer ends. I actually really want to, but I'll be leaving so much behind; I became well known in my freshmen-ongoing-sophomore class, I made a great impression on my counselor and one of the vice principals (we get along really well!), I've made so many close friends that I'm not even sure I could bare parting with, I became extremely close to one of my coaches throughout the year (he's like another dad to me... he would probably feel a bit crushed if I left, and I will, too), and I'm already a treasurer of a club at my school. It's just, the location and distance from where I live is too much of a trouble for my parents - I can almost never make it to school events, and it's such a trouble for them for my sports events, too. I feel like the only reason why it's such a bad idea is 'cause of the heartbreak I'll be feeling if I do transfer. The good thing about the school I want to go to is that the sports team I want to be on is the best in its division which means I'll get a lot better at what I play if I make their team, also it won't be hard for me at all to make new friends there (considering the fact that the majority of the kids at the school are the same ethnicity as me, so they might accept me pretty fast lol), there are academy programs (which would never be available at my current school), and well, in general - I think the "transfer school" has a lot more academic opportunities than my current school. I've already made a couple of friends that go to the "transfer school," too, so I'm not going to be that lonely on the first day there. I'm planning on telling my mom ASAP so that I can start on the summer hw... ASAP LOL but yeah, What do you think? Thank You!

  • Answer:

You will be able to drive by the end of sophmore year, right. Stick with the highschool you were in last year. It truly is about the 4 year experience.
