Choosing GCSE subject options? ANSWERQUICKPLEASE?
-
im in yr9, my school only gave me a weekend to choose my gcse options. ITS DUEE IN TOMOROW, and they said its FIRST IN FIRST SERVEE :\. i can only choose 3.. BLOCK A: Art French BTEC engineering Food tech Drama Business Health And Social Care single BLOCK B: Art History ICT Textiles BTEC media PE GCSE Geogrphy BLOCK C: Food tech Textiles Graphics Resistant Materials French Geography Music PE BETC I want to choose textiles and music for block B&C, but i dont really know what to choose at block A. Its really either french or business. i want to choose business cause my french teacher said its hardd and if you get B its already really good, and even thou im in set1 but im not the best im like the average in it... But my mum asked her friend which works at a secondary school said that the subjects that shud best choose is french&Geography. Soo... my mum said what abouut; A- French B-Geography C Music OR A-Business B-Textile C-Geography? But i really want textiles and music.. and business, my cousin said choose the subjects that you think you'll do good in and will get a A,etc... Im good at Art but its not really usefuuul and that soo im not choosing that. i dont think i can get a A or even a B in french (+i kinda daydream in french even though that teacher is really good and people actually learn stuff in her class) .. but its gonna be a different teacher next year, so i was thinking of choosing business, but my cousin said that business, they only teach really basic stuff.. I told my mum that i really want to choose textiles, so she said if you choose textiles you should choose business, but then for block c i will have to give up music. Im good at music and probably will get a A or A* cause i already learnd+passed the gr5 theory exam outside of school... and its learning the theory stuff in school also. Its just really annoying+ btw i heard like its doesnt really matter-ish what you choose for gcse beacuse you can choose different stuff in college for A-levels and that what really matters? But if i get a lot of As and Bs and i choose like for example... Art, Textiles and music which most university don't really want because most likes stuff like {Example} geography, french, and...ICT, would it matter? Would they see what subject i had for gcse or what grade i got?

Answer:
In my opinion you should: pick french because now colleges and university wants people to know another language so they'll know that you are clever enough to learn another language. pick ICT this is because technology keeps going higher so if you want a good job you can easily get into a it job. But if your school has level 2 or 3 Ict then do it. pick geography or history because university wants people which has a language and history or geography this is called english bachelor (something like that) Also pick want you want and it's not all about if you pass it's also about if you pass a difficult subject.. However I disagree the fact to choose what your heart desires I think you should use your brain and pick one good for your future. DONT PICK BTECS ONLY GCSE. The government just wants to make you into a labour not a proffesional something. So choose a good option. Hope that helps. Bye

Hey there, i've been in year 10 since september last year, so i could perhaps give you some advice:)? Personally, i would choose what you ENJOY! Don't think, "Oh well art isn't good if i want to go to university" or things like that, A levels are far more about your career, where as GCSE's are supposed to be things you enjoy! Learning a language is really good, because it gives you something else rather than just maths english and science. I do German as my language and i LOVE it:D Universities will look at A levels and additional things you've done eg: Duke of Edinburgh. From a lot of people i've talked too, they have said that they don't really enjoy buisness, as they don't really learn anything from it. Do art if you're good at it! I do it and i love it! It teaches you more than you may think! Things like time management are involved! At the end of the day, do things you ENJOY, like music, textiles, and french:) Do what YOU'RE passionate about and what YOU enjoy! Don't think "Oh my friends doing that so i should do that", also, gcse's are what you enjoy, and A Levels are more about careers etc... I hope this helps! And let me know what you're taking:) x
