Why do I get FileNotFoundException?

Why do some of the kids at my high school get free lunch but I have to pay for mines. How do I get free lunch?

  • I just started high school and some people at my school get free lunch but I don't. I didn't even know you could get free lunch and don't think it's fair some people get it free, while others pay. It wasn't like this in middle school. The lunch at my high school is okay, but it's really expensive. And they cheat us like charging 2 dollars for a small 4 by 4 inch paper container with like 10 fries in it, and the vending machines have 25 cent bags of chips with the 25 cent label but they charge $1.25 for them and everything is a dollar more than it costs. The kids type their number in this thing and their id comes up, or they show this pass thing and get it for free. When I see kids getting free lunch, I get pissed off. Why was I never informed of the free lunch? They never sent me anything telling me I had the option to get free lunch and what I'd have to do to get it for free. Did I have to apply for something? I literally spend about 6-8 dollars a day on lunch and about 40 bucks a week. Some get a reduced price and only pay half while I have to pay full price. How do some kids get free lunch but I have to pay? Was there something I had to do in the beginning of the year to get it? Is it too late to get it now? What would I have to do to get the free lunch?

  • Answer:

Free lunch programs are based off your parent's income. If they make too much money you can't get it and the number would vary by state or county. If you are so concerned about the cost, bring your lunch, no one is making you buy.

to get free lunch your parents have to make less than a certain amount decided by the district... so i guess the answer to your question is to make your parents poor

There should have been a form that went out to you guys in the beginning of the school year that you should have filled out to attempt to get free or reduced lunch. If you never got it, I think you can ask for it at the school office or something. But if you know your family can afford it, the school system probably won't give it to you, but it never hurts to try, since those free or reduced prices also pass along to pay for your SAT and ACT tests.

You have to sign up with a free or reduced lunch program. Try signing up in the school office if you qualify.

Kids who gt free lunch usually are from low income families with more than two siblings. If you think you are eligible for the free and reduced lunch, you can go to your school office and ask them for an application or just ask your lunchlady.

2 Possibilities. 1)This is a pre-paid lunch card and their parents bought them lunches at the beginning of the year and that's what they're doing. 2)Or they are poor and on some sort of meal program where the government pays the school to give them lunch. Try bringing a lunch to school, it will save you money.

Dude chill out! They're getting free lunches because they're poor!! Don't be such an *ss!!! In order to qualify for free or reduced lunches your parents have to make below a certain amount of money. I used to get free lunches before my mom remarried (I have 3 older siblings and my mom was raising us by herself). Believe me, you don't want to be able to qualify for free lunches.

Usually something is handed out to students at the beginning of the school year about free or reduced lunches. If you went to a public middle school they had it there, too. You just didn't notice or they had a system where it wasn't so noticeable. It's your parent(s) who have to apply for free/reduced lunch. To qualify for it you family has to meet certain income requirements. It's a federal program, and you can apply for it anytime during the year. You should ask your school's front office to ask how for an application for your parents. Also, go here for more information: http://www.fns.usda.gov/cnd/frp/frp.process.htm
