Can an online high school count towards regular high school credits?

Can my 22 college credits count towards my GED or a high school diploma?

  • I dropped out in 11th grade 17 years ago. I have been going off and on to a community college for the past 10 years. I was recently laid off from my job and wanted to get into a nursing program in January . I am enrolled for 13 credits for the fall semester . Should I take the GED exam or can I qualify for a HS Diploma - I have always had positions where I made over $20 an hour- education was not a priority so please no drop out remarks thank you !

  • Answer:

If you have college credits and are pursuing an associate degree, getting a GED or a diploma really doesn't matter. The degree is higher and the credits won't count...to get a GED, you'd have to pass the GED test. It costs quite a bit of money, especially if you don't pass the first time. Getting your diploma via Adult School can take up some time and you're already going to college. It seems that it'd be best for you to continue college. If you're unsure, ask a counselor at the school. They'll know more about your options and circumstances than I do...
