Does music affect heart rate?

Answer:
Yes it does. An upbeat melody causes an increase in the heart rate. Fetuses in the womb are also affected by music, because they can hear the music through the amniotic liquid. Classical music is very soothing to them, loud music can be very frightening or disturbing. This has been demonstrated on sonigrams.
